How wonderful to see the photos of you and your family at Dalvay! Your three-generations trip sounds very special. I too like to visit the same places and add new layers of memories.

I appreciate this reflection. My husband dislikes returning to the same spot (except ironically the one near you!), so we visit new places every year. He loves the adventure. But I like the nostalgia that you talk about which comes from bringing a place into your life history, a place that brings back memories each time you visit. And I like what you said about how it can be calming for a HSP - there's less anxiety about finding where you'll eat or what you'll do. Lots to think about!

Hence a reason my husband and I have so many “homes.” Whenever we arrive, I feel so good to be back. I walk around the place and feel so welcome and happy. I love the beds in our “homes.” So comfy. Then I leave and return to another “home” and similarly feel so good to be back. I love the views from each “home,” be it mountains in the horizon, a deck overlooking a lake, an extensive grassy expanse, or a view of water, egrets, and palm trees. But for me, the draw is more than the place. each place has people that I love, miss when gone, and want to spend time with. We have a pattern of buying homes near our people. For me, the people are the draw and the comfort. The comfy beds are also draws. 😁. But the smiling faces, hugs, walks, mahjong afternoons with friends and happy hours, playing with grandchildren in a play kitchen or Barbies or puzzles, dinners with adult children and children-in-heart, and time with them all. That’s the draw back to same places.
